Exhaust Pressure Sensor Circuit Low

P0472 is the exhaust back pressure (EBP) sensor reading low - and on the Power Stroke the single most common cause is a plugged or corroded EBP tube, not a failed sensor. The steel tube that carries exhaust pressure to the sensor packs with soot and rusts through. It is routinely misdiagnosed: people replace the sensor, the code returns, and the tube was the problem all along. Remove the tube, clean it out or replace it, and inspect the sensor port before buying a sensor. Good practice is to clean or renew the tube whenever the sensor is replaced. When the ECM sees EBP out of range it disables back-pressure control, which is why you may also notice slower warm-up and reduced exhaust braking.
